Theoni Mavrogianni is a Psychologist and a member of the Laboratory Teaching Staff of the Department of Education and Social Work of University of Patras since October 2021.

Short CV:

Theoni Mavrogianni is a chartered psychologist and a member of the Laboratory Teaching Staff of the Department of Education and Social Work of the University of Patras since October 2021. She holds a degree from the Arsakeios Pedagogical Academy of Patras, a B.Sc. in Psychology and an M.Sc. in Educational Psychology from the University of London, a Diploma in Playtherapy from the University of Roehampton and a PhD in Special Education from the University of Patras. She has also completed the training in cognitive psychotherapy. She was a teacher in Greek schools in London. He had a private practice as a psychologist until 2002. She served as a psychologist at the Diagnostic, Assessment and Support Center of Achaia from September 2002 to September 2021, and from December 2012 she was head director of the center. She has participated as an expert in the European Agency for Special Education and Inclusive Education for the projects “Early Childhood Intervention” and “Promoting Inclusive Education: Addressing challenges in legislation, education policy and practice”. Her teaching experience is at University of Patras in service training “Evangelos Papanoutsos” (2006-2012), at School of Pedagogical and Technological Education (2012-2013), at the Department of Education of the University of Patras (academic experience-spring semester 2017) and at the Master degree “Special Education” of the University of Nicosia (2016-present). She has participated in the writing of 9 books, 4 articles and 6 conference presentations. She has participated in 25 research projects (European and national) implemented by the University of Patras, University of Thessaly, Autism Friends Association of Larissa, C.T.I., Pedagogical Institute, Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS)-Vienna-Austria. She has worked as a trainer for parents and teachers on counselling and special education and inclusion. Her research interests focus on counselling of parents of neurotypical children and parents of children with disability/special educational needs, promotion of students’ mental health, management of behavioural problems in the school community, prevention of school violence, assessment/diagnosis of special educational needs and design of individual and group educational intervention programmes.
