Short CV:

Manolis Mentis was born in Kythira in 1970. He studied Social Work (1989-1993) in the respective Department of the School of Health & Welfare Professions of the TEI of Patras. He completed his postgraduate studies at the Department of Medicine of the University of Thessaly, specializing in “Primary Health Care” (2006-2008). In the same Department he prepared his doctoral dissertation as a scholarship holder (2015). He worked as a social worker at the Psychiatric Hospital of Attica and at the Department of Family Counseling & Treatment (1996-2001) and then at the Social Service of the University General Hospital of Patras (2001-2019). His research interests are focused on issues of Health & Social Care for the Elderly, Social Support and self-organization of Recipients of Mental Health Services and their families, as well as issues of psychosocial support for socially vulnerable groups. Furthermore, it is designed as a scientifically responsible dozens of programs for Continuing Vocational Training funded by the European Union and the ESPA project MIS 371373 code and title: ”SUPPORT ACTIONS FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF FOSTER FAMILIES’ PROGRAMS IN THE 6th HEALTH REGION FOR CONSOLIDATION OF PSYCHIATRIC REFORM” . In addition to publications in peer-reviewed journals, his writings include monographs, book editing, excerpts from collective volumes, and editing for health professionals. He is also an active member of various Associations and initiative groups and a reviewer in a scientific journal of the wider field of Health. In addition to teaching at the University of Patras, he also teaches at the Postgraduate level at the Hellenic Open University, as well as at two (2) Postgraduate Programs of the Department of Medicine of the University of Thessaly.

Employment history:

1. January 24, 2020 until today: Assistant Professor with the subject of Mental Health in Social Work at the Department of Educational Sciences & Social Work of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Patras.
2. April 1, 2001-23 January 2020: Social worker in the Social Service of the University General Hospital of Patras with duties in the Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Clinic, the Intensive Care Unit, the Nephrology Clinic and the Neurosurgery Clinic.
3. December 16, 1996 – March 31, 2001: Social Worker in the Social Service of the Psychiatric Hospital of Attica. Since 1997 social worker in the Detoxification Unit 18 ANO – Department of Family Counseling and Treatment of the Psychiatric Hospital of Attica.
4. April 24, 1994 to April 24, 1995: Social Worker in the Army and head of the team of social workers, psychologists and sociologists in the area of responsibility of the XVI Infantry Division.
