Dr. Maria Frounda was born in Patras and has been serving since 2017 as a Laboratory Teaching Staff at the Department of Education and Social Work of the University of Patras.She holds a bachelor’s degree in Nursing and a Master’s degree in Education Sciences from Université de Rouen (FRANCE) – Department of Sciences de l’Éducation. She completed her PhD thesis on Health Education and Innovative Programs in Education at the University of Ioannina, Department of Philosophy – Pedagogy and Psychology. For 7 years she worked as a Nurse at the Regional University General Hospital in Rio-Patras and for 17 years she worked as a Teacher of Secondary Vocational Education in a school in Patras. She is author of articles in international and Greek scientific journals and has participated in numerous conferences. Her scientific and research interests focus on the topics of Health Education – Health Promotion and their interconnections with Education.

Scientific fields of interest:

Her research interests focus on issues related to Health Education in general, such as health, well-being, health literacy, sustainable development and health, etc., and specifically, such as the logic model, skills development, first aid, sexually transmitted diseases, etc. It also addresses issues related to teaching such as innovative actions in education, experiential learning, teaching planning, etc.

Finally, in the context of the Inter-University – Interdepartmental Master’s programme “Higher Education Policy: theory and practice”, through her participation in Thematic Unit 1 “Values, knowledge, mission of higher education: social and historical dimensions”, she addresses issues related to student health and well-being, such as “healthy universities”, student health literacy, the use of ICT in connection with student health, etc.
